Dragons Crown is an action adventure game that is very similar to Capcoms Dungeons Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara its core mechanics are based on hacking and slashing your enemies into oblivion and casting devastating offensive magic. But unlike Capcoms recent offering, Dragons Crown offers the player enough flexibility to build their character as they level. Its an adventure that can be experienced more than once, where no two characters are alike. Combat is a heart-pounding affair as you battle hordes of undead monsters, lizard men and dark sorcerers, among others. In the early 90s if you were a kid wandering the floors of a musty arcade, pocket money jangling in your jeans and Pearl Jam blasting in your ears, youd almost certainly have come across at least one of the Dungeons Dragons coin-ops. Unique amongst their brethren for their multiple story paths, technical gameplay and faithful adherence to the source material, Tower of Doom and its sequel Shadow over Mystara were never as popular as more linear fare such as Turtles in Time, but they had a rich, inviting charm of their own. Until now, Capcoms cult side-scrolling beat-em-ups have never been ported over to consoles in Europe. Thankfully, this oversight has been addressed with the release of Dungeons Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara which bundles both coin-op ports into a shiny, downloadable treat. Theres something unusual going on with the Wii U version of Dungeons Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. Its the only edition of the game that hasnt come out yet. Chronicles of Mystara hit the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in mid-June, but its nowhere to be found on Wii U. So whats the deal here? We dont have any specifics currently, but over at the Capcom-Unity boards, staffer Rey Jimenez said that releasing the Wii U SKU as been a bit of a nightmare for that producer. Jimenez isnt involved with Dungeons Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, so were unlikely to get further details about the situation from him. This whole thing is certainly pretty odd
