Abyss Odyssey Review | Entertainment Buddha

Added: 15.07.2014 19:14 | 2 views | 0 comments

ACE Teams latest title, Abyss Odyssey, is a beautiful looking 2D side-scrolling rogue-like that features a rich art nouveau design aesthetic steeped in the studios Chilean culture. The gameplay features a unique blend of fighting game mechanics and those of a platformer to create a highly addictive experience that requires both skill and strategy to master, if one could truly master this challenging, but ultimately fair game. Thanks to the procedurally generated nature of Abyss Odyssey no two playthroughs are the same, so players are constantly tested and challenged, and theres never a guarantee that your next trip down the Abyss will be any easier, or more successful than your last. This constant uncertainty coupled with the allure of the gameplay challenges is what keeps you enthralled with the world of Abyss Odyssey, and why its such an entertaining and fresh feeling experience that wont set you back a cool $60, but will offer hours upon hours of entertainment.

"Squids Odyssey is a decent eShop title that leaves a lot to be desired. I recommend this game if you like RPGs or strategy games and have a couple of squid to spend, but do not expect a fully fleshed out RPG." - Nintendo Feed

Chaz from We Got This Covered wrote: The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Weve all heard this stanza, and Im willing to bet that all of us have proven it correct at one point or another. No matter how fool-proof our idea is, or how perfect our plan seems to be, sometimes it just doesnt work. The guys at ACE Team should have had a winner on their hands with Abyss Odyssey, and I should have loved it since it mixes some of my favourite genres together. However, although I have to applaud them for opening this door, its just a shame they couldnt walk through it all the way.

Ryan Johnson from The Gamers Lounge writes "Squids: Odyssey came out for the Wii U a few weeks ago, and I was fortunate enough to review it. Now, The Game Bakers have offered me the chance to see the 3DS edition as well. In Europe, gamers who picked up the 3DS edition can get the Wii U version free, but this offer has not extended out of that territory. Gamers in other nations at the moment need to choose, but which one should you pick up?"
