Destructoid- Review: Mars: War Logs

Added: 06.05.2013 20:18 | 6 views | 0 comments

DT:Mars: War Logs is the kind of experience one can only call serviceable. It exists, it does what it does, and it performs its job suitably. It doesn't do anything terrible, but it never once goes above a basic standard of acceptability. It's very clear that it wants to ape the best action-RPGs of the genre, but its too basal and hurried to pull off a single remarkable thing. It's a shame because Spiders' last attempt -- Of Orcs and Men -- was genuinely great, a game that similarly failed to be all it wanted to be, but at least had an interesting story and some wonderful presentation.

oblivion437: Vox Pop Winner May 2013

Added: 04.05.2013 21:00 | 9 views | 0 comments

There were only two Vox Pop entries this past month. That makes this ninja cat sad. But it could be because the new entries this week were so strong that they intimidated everyone.

Whatever the case, both entries had one core message: Don't be a dick, developers! It was difficult to choose a winner because oblivion437 and wildmario both make great points. While oblivion437 lambastes Peter Moore for defending always-on DRM, Origin, and micro-transactions, wildmario tears apart Adam Orth and TheRedner Group for being far too smug. Thanks for writing!

Why PC Gaming is Putting Consoles to Shame

Added: 19.04.2013 10:20 | 49 views | 0 comments

Microsoft Creative Director Adam Orth was forced to resign last week after comments he made on his Twitter page. "Sorry, I don't get the drama of having an 'always on' console," Orth tweeted. "Every device now is 'always on'. That's the world we live in. #dealwithit." Mr Orth's comments were made after rumours began circulating that the Xbox 360's successor, nicknamed the Xbox 720, would always require an internet connection in order to work, even to play games that have no online features. Of course, his comments shouldn't in any way be taken as confirmation that Microsoft have opted to go the always-on route with the Xbox 720, but they are yet more fuel added to a fire that Microsoft isn't in any way helping to extinguish. The idea of always-online DRM is so anti-consumer and loathsome that, if the rumours aren't true, you'd have to believe Microsoft would have released a statement by now in order to stop all the bad press they're receiving. Creating a console that is only...

Have you ever had to resign in disgrace? Ben Wyatt has. Adam Orth has. Ben Wyatt is played by Adam Scott. Are the two connected somehow? Could fictional Parks and Recreation character Ben Wyatt-Knope be related to Adam Orth? I don't know. Nobody knows. Maybe we'll never know!
