From the PS4 vs Xbox One back to Nintendo vs Sega: Great console battles throughout the decades

Added: 20.11.2013 18:17 | 8 views | 0 comments

IT Pro Portal: With the UK release of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 now just one and two weeks away respectively, the video game console wars are poised to rage anew. The past generation of consoles has lasted a relatively long eight years, so it's been a while since gamers practiced the time-honoured tradition of defending their new console of choice to the death. Controversies have been erupting over everything from the Xbox Ones slightly lower resolution on some games to the PS4s slightly reduced media capabilities, and everyone seems to be arguing over which big black box is better. So we thought it might be an interesting idea to take a look back at the console wars of generations past.

Review: Contrast Talking to Shadows | The Analog Shtick

Added: 19.11.2013 19:22 | 2 views | 0 comments

Many of the PS4s launch titles have a very bright, and colorful look to them. Battlefield 4 and Killzone: Shadow Fall are both surprisingly vibrant when looked upon next to other titles of their genre, and Need for Speed: Rivals is similarly radiant. So it would seem that its up to Contrast to deliver a darker experience; both visually, and tonally. It definitely delivers the former, but falls short in the latter spectrum.

Sterling Avoids Legitimate Concerns about Journalism Ethics

Added: 19.11.2013 18:17 | 0 views | 0 comments

Some game journalists posted pictures of themselves with free PS4s that they received from a Sony review event in New York. These pictures angered some readers who questioned why journalists should receive gifts from video game companies. As someone who earned a journalism degree, I understand where some readers are coming from. Its a fundamental question raised in journalism ethics class: should reviewers receive free services or products for review? Any good journalism teacher will tell you that if you accept free services or products, you open yourself up to legitimate concerns about conflicts of interest. - Jed Pressgrove, Fate of the Game
