DICE rules out enhanced console port – for a couple of generations, at least.

Discussing the possibility of a next-gen port during Gamescom, executive producer Patrick Bach said that he "would not rehash [Battlefield 3 for PS4 & Xbox One].

"It wouldn't be worth it. I think it's better to bring back the maps like we're doing and then maybe there's some other fan favourite that people really want and we can probably bring that back as well. But the feature set and the core game of Battlefield 3 versus Battlefield 4, it would be going backwards in time."

Bach suggests that going back to Battlefield 3 after Battlefield 4 would seem pointless,...

CCC Says: "Yearly releases among triple-A franchises have become sort of an epidemic. Several beloved IPs have flocked to the business model in recent years, and it doesnt look like we will see the end of it anytime soon. Executive producer Patrick Bach says "we can't build a game at DICE every year," though fans do want Battlefield year round.

The Battlefield series is unlikely to become an annualized franchise like Call of Duty, developer DICE has told in a new interview from Gamescom.

"I think the core Battlefield idea that we're working on at DICE is#133; We can't build a game at DICE every year," executive producer Patrick Bach said when asked if a new Battlefield game could launch in 2014.

Bach pointed to and its Premium content offering as an example proving that, in general, fans "want Battlefield all year round."

With the Medal of Honor series , EA has no major shooter penciled in for fall 2014.

Respawn Entertainment's .

Instead of releasing standalone titles on a semi-regular basis, Bach was asked if the Battlefield series may one day evolve into a platform that grows with new maps and campaigns.

"Maybe it [could]," Bach said. "You're touching upon something that we've actually started noticing as well. Maybe it's a really smart thing to do; maybe it's the completely wrong thing to do. We can see that some games are actually doing it already, like MMOs. You have some free-to-play games [that] continue on the same platform. So I think it's more about the audience and getting all the ducks in a row, so to speak."

Battlefield 4 launches for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The game is also in development for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

"We can't build a game at DICE every year," executive producer says.

"I think the core Battlefield idea that we're working on at DICE is... We can't build a game at DICE every year," Battlefield 4 executive producer Patrick Bach said during Gamescom last week when asked whether a new Battlefield title could launch in 2014 to fill the gap left by Medal of Honor.

"You saw with Battlefield 3, for instance, it's not that there's not an urge for more Battlefield. You mentioned Premium – we [had] 18 months worth of Battlefield and people want more things during that time. Now it's been almost two years and people feel like they are continuously...

The Pixelitis Podcast Ep. 55 Black hole butts

"We know that titles a little ridiculous, but hear us out. Things got a little weird yesterday both on the podcast and on MTVs yearly Video Music Awards. Never mind the fact that the very notion of music anything and MTV being in the same sentence being the weird bit there, but Disneys pop princesses sure do have a tendency to break bad, dont they? You never hear iCarly twerking on some random dudes junk in front of millions. In all reality, its pretty hard to remember why the titular term for this weeks show came up in the first place. Either way, this weeks show is a doozy. The old cast consisting of Andrew Martins, Patrick Kulikowski and Karen Rivera got together once again to talk about vidyagameZ. From Final Fantasy X HD to the PlayStation Vitas price drop, there were plenty of topics to discuss. So as always, feel free to hit play below. Dont forget to subscribe to us on iTunes and Stitcher Radio, while youre at it." - Pixelitis Staff
