"I was lucky enough to attend The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses at the NJPAC in Newark, NJ on Aug. 10 along with Pixelitis dynamic fraternal duoPatrick and Damian Kulikowski. After getting to talk gaming music with Symphony producer Chad Seiter, we got to check out the stage just as the house was opening up. Looking out into that sea of Zelda fans, you could see hundreds of devoted fans (as well as the NPACs snazzy crystal orb light fixture). Some attendees came with brilliant cosplays; others dressed formally in ways that recalled the series motifs: like a green suit and tie or a green evening gown. "Chiptunes dont translate to a vast orchestral piece as easily as one might think. Performing a videogame composition once and then looping it for another go may be passable in some venues, but in the case of an orchestra playing the widely cherished The Legend of Zelda series soundtracks, there needs to be an added level of pizzaz to spice it all up. With The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, this includes selecting tracks that best represent specific games and tying them into a movement that tells that games story. Producers Jeron Moore and Jason Michael Paul have spoken passionately about the formation of the show, so it only seemed fitting to continue along and talk to Chad Seiter, the symphonys orchestrator.
