The Reason I Prefer Less-Realistic Art Styles in Zelda

Added: 02.08.2013 19:19 | 8 views | 0 comments

ZD writes: Art styles are a pretty big deal among Zelda fans, but, while I have touched on the subject before in various articles and videos, Ive never really dedicated an entire article to the topic. Until now that is. Ive made no secret in the past of my general disappointment with Twilight Princess I dont hate the game by any means, but it did disappoint me when compared to most other Zelda games and one of the biggest reasons for that was its art style. Now, a lot of people forget this but Twilight Princess did not have full-on realism; plenty of the aspects of past games anime style still show through in Twilight Princess, and theres still familiar elements in the art style. But I dont think anyones going to argue that its not the closest thing that exists right now to a realistic Zelda game.

Defending Swordsman Foes While Wanting More Monsters

Added: 02.08.2013 19:19 | 8 views | 0 comments

ZD writes: Ive made absolutely no secret in the past of my love of monsters. I mean, hey, I wrote an entire article about my favorite ones in the Zelda series! Sometimes my favorite monsters are anthropomorphic or humanoid, but in general I prefer my monsters to be pretty bestial. Why am I getting into this? Well Zeldas always had its fair share of humanoid foes. Ever since the original game, Darknuts have been a big part of the series and theyre really just knights who are occasionally jackal-headed for some reason. And there were others too. But even with these humanoid foes present there were always plenty of bestial enemies as well. Far teresting foes, with creative designs, strange anatomy, and sometimes creative means of fighting them. Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask excelled at this, as did most of the handheld games. I think it was around Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword that swordsmen or other kinds of very human enemies and monsters started becoming very...

A Kingdom Under Fire cosplay that will blow your mind

Added: 02.08.2013 9:19 | 3 views | 0 comments

Destructoid: "To kick it off, we're going mostly old-school with a stunning Princess Zelda, feisty Street Fighters, a serene Tifa Lockheart, and a downright disturbing Alice. Not to keep it completely retro though, we also have a look at one of my favorite new characters of this generation: a brilliant Nilin worth remembering from Capcom's sci-fi thriller Remember Me. Perhaps the most elaborate cosplay of the week goes to a character from a MMO I've never even heard of based on the Kingdom Under Fire universe. The armor work and intricate detail on each sword for Age of Storms' Elyuin is utterly ridiculous. Follow this link for in-game footage of the actual character to see just how accurate the cosplay is."
