RPG games have many different styles and graphics. Some are turn based, others active time, others real time. Battle Princess of Arcadias doesnt exactly follow suit. While the combat is real time, its a bit different in the way that battles go. The fighting is a beat-em-up action style, moving through each level and taking down enemies along the way. Theres also battles that take more strategy, either when fighting an army of enemies or fighting a giant monster. The fighting, sadly, is about as good as the game gets. Battle Princess of Arcadia falls with sterile graphics, stereotypical characters, and a horrible sense of repetition.

"Theres a weird spot in my heart for much of what NIS America, the US publishing arm of Japans Nippon Ichi Software, brings to the table. On one hand, they usually create a pretty compelling game with a lot going on; on the other, theres this intense and often overpowering core of Japanese cultural essence that I can only handle in small doses. Battle Princess of Arcadias is no exception, and I found myself having to take occasional breaks from the game to simply allow my mind some time to decompress from the style and presentation despite almost unilaterally enjoying my time playing."
