Paul Cuisset Talks Subject 13, VR Support and Adventure Videogames

VRFocus - The adventure videogame genre has experienced something of a revival in the past few years. Developers such as Telltale Games and Quantic Dream have carried a torch for the classic genre with releases such as The Walking Dead and Beyond: Two Souls. Each and everyone one of these titles owes a debt to Paul Cuisset, creator such beloved titles as 1989s Future Wars and 1992s Flashback. Now Cuisset is returning to the genre he helped shape with Subject 13, which is currently running a Kickstarter campaign looking for $40,000 USD, with a stretch goal of $60,000 for support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD).

The leap in graphics from the PS3/60 era to the PS4/Xbox One generation is not a great one. Certain developers, like Quantic Dream, have pushed graphics so far that something like Beyond: Two Souls still looks like an impressive title even today, gameplay criticisms notwithstanding. Meanwhile, people play something like Watch_Dogs on new consoles and many people say Well, it looks better, but not that much better.

200 people laid off, Halo: Nightfall and Quantum Break unaffected.
Microsoft has announced that it will close Xbox Entertainment Studios as part a massive series of layoffs designed to ensure "a robust Xbox business". While the manufacturer has yet to confirm exactly which projects are affected, this presumably means that the majority of the Xbox Originals TV shows Microsoft announced in April won't happen.
