ZTGD | Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Full Review

Justin Celani writes: If there is one thing I know for certain, its that Resident Evil is one of the longest running game series still being made today and with mass appeal. With that certainty comes the uncertainty of just how good the next iteration will be. While the series has seen drastic changes over the last ten years and divided its fan base, only more recently have we seen Capcoms ability to takes the series and experiment with it. This brings us to Resident Evil Revelations 2. A budget, episodic, weekly scheduled online gaming series that culminates in a full retail disc release on the day the final episode drops. A bold move on Capcoms part and one Id like to see more of in the future as it works surprisingly well.

Resident Evil Revelations 2: Episode 4 Review - IGN

Considering the sheer amount of plot threads dangling at the end of episode 3, there was a great deal of pressure on Resident Evil Revelations 2: Episode 4 - Metamorphosis to end its story in a satisfying manner. Although it takes a good stab at doing so, it loses much of its charm along the way, and some extra-creaky gameplay adds up to make the finale the the least satisfying episode of the entire series.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (Complete Season) Review | GameCloud Australia

William Kirk at GameCloud Australia writes: "Without a doubt, Revelations 2 is the best Resident Evil game weve seen since RE:4. I dont say that because I think its genre-rocking its not, even though it is actually very good I say this because its the most harmonious and confident Resident Evil game of the past decade. The biggest problem that Ive found is with the pacing (further highlighted by the afterthought of episodic delivery), but in saying that, the game still succeeds because its built around a mostly polished set of mechanics. It doesnt have the antiquated combat of RE:5 or the QTE action scenes of RE:6, its just a solid all-rounded survival horror experience. Basically, if youre a fan of the franchise or the genre, I dont think you can really go wrong here. With a full campaign, bonus episodes, lots of unlockables and replayability, and the promise of online co-op for Raid Mode, Id say that Revelations 2 is definitely worth your time and investment."

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Review | Gametrailers

Resident Evil is inching closer to its roots. As the series continued to move towards more action heavy ideals, the original Revelations gave Capcom the opportunity to freely experiment with the formula. The result was an added dose of the franchise's horror traditions. Revelations 2 further embraces this direction by emphasizing survival-horror and offering a meaningful story to the decades long continuity.
