Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions review: Game cubed - Joystiq

Added: 29.11.2014 2:12 | 1 views | 0 comments

Joystiq: "In 2008, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 was the ruler (pun intended) of Xbox Live. It riffed on Asteroids aptly, mixing simple, refined shoot-em-up with a hypnotic techno frenzy. Like a three-legged pub crawl with tequila shots, it delivered in short, impelling bursts that kept you drunkenly chasing high scores through the night, or at least until your thumbs passed out. In short, it was a black hole of time in the best possible way. After such a siesta, it's hard to see Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions outside of what came before. Oddly enough, it's a sometimes overlooked Geometry Wars entry, Galaxies, that brings the most enjoyable component to developer Lucid Games' revival: a dense, challenge-based campaign."

TouchArcade: 'Vigil RPG' Review - An Entertaining Distillation Of Retro JRPGs

Added: 29.11.2014 2:11 | 3 views | 0 comments

TouchArcade: One of the things I love about RPGs is how wide and diverse the genre is. There are so many different things an RPG can do well to make a name for itself, whether it be telling a great story, having deep character customization options to play with, bringing an interesting world to life for players to explore, using interesting combat mechanics to force you to think in new ways, or any other of the genre's fine traits. Generally speaking, no two RPGs are quite alike, and some of them are so different from each other it's a wonder we fit them into the same genre at all. I enjoy digging into any RPG and trying to find that thing that makes it special, and even if it's not to my personal tastes, it's always interesting to see how it works and who it might appeal to.

Retro City Rampage DX Review - GamersFTW

These days most re-masters focus on graphics, publishers will shout from the roof-tops about how their re-release runs at 60 FPS with a resolution of 1080p. While improvements in graphics will always be welcome, what most developers overlook in re-masters is the gameplay issues cited in the original game, thankfully V-Blank Entertainment has decided to focus on improving the way Retro City Rampage plays for the re-release, Retro City Rampage DX.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Review - Gamespot

Gamespot: "It is 2:00 a.m., my right thumb is sore and my brain is fried, yet I cannot sleep--not just yet. I am staring at two numbers in the millions, one of which is higher than the other. The higher number belongs to a colleague at another publication. By day, we are friends and peers; by night, we participate in a grueling display of one-upsmanship and vain preening, working to best each others' Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions scores. And I cannot abide by this discrepancy. Clearly, I must prove my superiority. Geometry Wars 3 is about that endless quest to best friends and strangers. As you work your way through the single-player progression or toy around with the returning modes from Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 and its predecessor, your focus may be on the onscreen fireworks display, but it's the promise of rising up the leaderboards that compels you."
