AusGamers Reviews Dead Island: Riptide
Added: 03.05.2013 8:17 | 12 views | 0 comments
AusGamers has reviewed Dead Island: Riptide and writes:
Riptide brings absolutely nothing new to the experience of the first game. If anything, it just piles on new frustrations. It may look deadly beautiful but it is not worth your time. This is practically the exact same experience as the first game.

Instead of distilling the massive potential from Dead Island, Riptide only manages more of the same without the best parts.

Redding writes:
Despite such sloppiness as well as plotting that's ridiculous even by zombie-story standards "Riptide" is amusing in spurts, especially if you can gather an online posse to deal with the hungry hordes. Still, I wish Techland had spent some time addressing the series' problems rather than just shoveling out more of the same.

However flawed, Dead Island: Riptide remains good fun. And long may that not change.

BeefJack writes:
What strikes me most about Riptide is the untapped potential that remains, and how little of it Techland have sourced. This second entry in the Dead Island franchise is unforgivably ramshackle, beset by a host of galling bugs and an uninspiring tale of human survival. More than anything though, in a climate in which Borderlands 2, Left 4 Dead, Far Cry 3 and The Walking Dead are all fondly remembered, its bewildering just how little has improved over the course of nearly two years. One to save for a lazy weekend.

GameCritics: "While taking on legions of shambling undead with Morgan's fists was a genuine high point, it's not enough to make up for the fourth-class experience that Riptide is. I forgave many of the original Dead Island's problems since it had such a fresh, exciting vision, but Riptide lacks the same heart. Don't get me wrong, thoughthe developers don't need to reinvent the wheel every time (and more of a good thing is usually a good thing) but there's no excusing the slapdash production values and shortage of good ideas on display here."
