Gaming Irresponsibly: I reviewed the original Dead Island almost two years ago. I thought it was a fun game, a few flaws held it back from absolute greatness, but ultimately a ton of fun. I had just purchased a PC version of the game when I heard the announcement about the spinoff/sequel Dead Island Riptide. I had reasonable hopes for the game, after all the first game was buggy but I am sure there was a lot to do in another game.

We've been spending some time with the game and as fans of the original Dead Island, the comparisons have been present in our mind throughout our time playing Riptide. We figured we'd share some of those thoughts with our readers, because doubtless many of you played the original Dead Island and are curious if Riptide is worth your time and money. GR: Many key locations in the game respawn essential items like med packs, Molotovs, and items you can sell to certain NPCs for money and XP. One example of this is the first safe house you end up in where Molotovs and flare gun ammo re-spawn regularly after you revisit the area. If you haven't been back to a safe house for a while, chances are items you can use to restock your main inventory will be available again. This can save you a lot of money as health packs and bombs can cost as much as $500 each.

Iron pipes will break after a handful of uses; high level meat cleavers will be too advanced for your low level character to wield; and every survivor of the exotic zombie apocalypse has disgustingly fat wads of US currency on-hand. Absurd, its really the only word that properly encapsulates Techlands series.
