Styx: Master of Shadows | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes: Like the rest of the gaming community, I first heard about Styx: Master of Shadows at E3 this past year. I honestly did not know what to think of Styx outside of the fact that I was super interested in the fact that you play as an ugly little goblin and not some shiningly perfect example of a perfect human or a tall and graceful elf. No, not in Styx; you play a grimy, nasty little goblin who slithers around in the darkness, has a really cool tattoo, and carries a really big knife. It is not often you play something that is the equivalent of an anti-hero in video games and I thought that it would be a nice change of pace. As more details emerged about Styx: Master of Shadows I became terested in it; after all the last time there was a game that focused more on stealth and completing tasks without killing everything in sight, we were given Mark of the Ninja, one of the best side-scrolling games since Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (I love that...

Attack of the Fanboy: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Review

"Shadow of Mordors Nemesis system is the most interesting thing about this game, and weve likely seen the last of systems of this type. Visual fidelity, frame rates, and resolution have been the top selling points for many games that follow identical, popular formulas, lately. Monolith shakes things up in Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor to make this open world game more refreshing than most."

Styx: Master of Shadows is a good stealth game that shows signs of weird design decisions by the developers. Check out the video review for this slap stick stealth game.

Styx: Master of Shadows Review The Goblin Thief is a Jack of All Trades but Master of None | COG

The stealth genre has seen some amazing games over recent years that have helped define it as a premier genre in gaming. Styx: Master of Shadows borrows from them all but never truly uses any of its inspiration to its full potential.

That rarest of things - a decent stealth game we didn't see coming.
Styx is the Master of Shadows because he has to be. A 200-year old goblin who resembles what you'd get if you moulded earwax into a face, then grafted it onto a boiled rat, he's pitifully outmatched by almost every character in the game that bears his name.
