A terrible, potentially career-ending confession: I never got round to playing the Thief games - from whose dank, fragant soils the entire modern first-person adventure genre has arguably sprung - back when they were a Thing. That's a failure of taste I'm now rectifying, having finally picked up a copy of 2004's Deadly Shadows - generally deemed to be the worst of the three, though also the vehicle for its most depraved spine-tingles, and the one Thief escapade I can get running on this filthy dog of a PC.

'Killer is Dead' is another odd action hack-n-slash adventure from executive producer Suda 51 and the Grasshopper Manufacture team. If you are not familiar with Sudas previous work then youre going to be in for a real surprise. "Suda" games are anything from typical and usually involve mysterious themes, imaginative characters and idea. 'Killer is Dead' is no exception from this, but in no way is "Killer" the best way to showcase of Suda-flavour. If you are curious about that "Suda" name you have likely heard about, I would have to recommend something more substantial like the outstanding 'Shadows of the Damned'.

Unfortunately the game is less than the sum of its parts, and ends up feeling boring, monotonous and just plain unpolished and unfinished.

GF - "Back at E3 2013, one of my favorite games of the show was a little indie game tucked away in the Sony booth called Contrast, developed by Compulsion Games. Its a beautiful looking puzzle platformer with a striking visual style that combines film noir with Bioshock."
