X360A - We miss Michael Ironside. We all miss Michael Ironside. His gruff tones came to define the character of Sam Fisher over the years across five Splinter Cell games, but now he's gone. And after about an hour of playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist, you'll probably have forgotten all about the whole Ironside thing. We didn't expect that. Don't get us wrong; we love Ironside Sam, but Blacklist's performance captured rendition of the character is superb, adding a whole new layer of drama and tension to Fisher's latest outing and his shadowy Fourth Echelon doings.

WC - The sixth Splinter Cell game, Blacklist, hits stores this week, and though many video game franchises well and truly run out of steam after 10 years of consistently pumping out new titles, such is clearly not the case here. Though many feared that 2010s Conviction marked the casualisation of the series from here on out, Blacklist isnt just a return to form, but its an apotheosis of the series; a reminder and refinement of every great innovation the series brought to the surface.
