United States District Judge Susan Illston ruled that EA chief executive officer Andrew Wilson and chief financial officer Blake Jorgensons pre-release comments about Battlefield 4 amounted to nothing more than corporate optimism or puffery. Ultimately, Illston stated that shareholders Kelly and Mastro cannot further pursue securities fraud claims against EA.

Though the overarching story was a point of debate, overall the game was critically acclaimed and in 2012 Peter Hines touted that the studio had just found its latest franchise. The StopGamerGate2014 hashtag has seen a great deal of momentum on Twitter, with around 50,000 new tweets since last night according to analytics site Topsy.
