Strike Suit Zero - Director's Cut: Bring On The Indie Greats | Review on @IM_PLAYIN

IM PLAYIN has had a go on Strike Suit Zero - Director's Cut, here's what they think.
"To kick off the Xbox Ones ID@Xbox programme, the next-gen console has been graced with the indie goodness that is Strike Suit Zero: Directors Cut. It's on the PS4 as well, but indie games have been big on the Sony console for a while now. I believe that Im in the minority that, more often than not, enjoys playing indie games far more than the heavy hitters. Thats not to say that I dont love games like the FIFA, Battlefield or Elder Scrolls series, though. For example, two of my most hotly anticipated games are Wulverblade and Hyper Light Drifter, both indie titles that might not be on everyones radar. But, then, Im also really looking forward to The Elder Scrolls Onlines console début, as well as games like Tom Clancys: The Division. I love a good indie game because you can really see the time and the passion that goes into making them.

For one type of gamer, theres no point in writing this review at all, its a guaranteed buy. Thats the kind of gamer that played games like Colony Wars on the PS1 and X-Wing and/or TIE-Fighter on the PC religiously. These are the gamers that have been even more underrepresented than JPRG fans or rhythm game fans not just for one console generation but a few. These are the starfighter combat fans, the ones that dreamed of hopping in a ship, taking to the stars and shooting enemy fighters while attempting to take down massive capital ships. Those players finally have a new game to play with Strike Suit Zero: Directors Cut and while theyve already bought the game, heres what other people need to know about this rare incursion into a genre thats once again coming back to life; this game aint bad at all.

The space combat genre is somewhat specialized, typically finding its audience with older gamers on the PC. The genre flourished in the 90s with many superb games that are considered classics to this day, and now making a bit of a comeback with a surprising amount of interesting games on the horizon. Born Readys Strike Suit Zero has been available on the PC for over a year, and has made its way to the PS4 Xbox One in the form of a Directors Cut that features numerous tweaks and additions.
