Assassins Creed: Unity First Impressions and Gameplay Video | The Koalition

Added: 12.11.2014 0:11 | 16 views | 0 comments

Gary Swaby at The Koalition writes: Since our beloved Ezio Auditore ran his course in the Assassins Creed series, it has felt like theres been a clear void in the series. Sure, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag was a great game on its own, but its hard to hold it in the same regard as Assassins Creed II and Brotherhood. Assassins Creed III had already left a bad impression on some gamers, so it was going to take something exceptional to get people to love the series the way they once did. Along comes Assassins Creed: Unity, with its great emphasis on co-operative gameplay. Im knee-deep into the experience already, and the feeling is much like playing Assassins Creed II for the first time. Read on to learn the good and the bad.

The Co-op Podcast #98: Could EA Survive Without Microsoft and Sony?

Added: 10.11.2014 22:11 | 10 views | 0 comments

Gary Swaby of The Koalition writes: Welcome to episode 98 of the Co-op podcast. Were two weeks away from the big one, but in the meantime theres much to discuss during this busy gaming month. This week Charles Singletary and Michael A once again debated over whether EA Access is a valuable service. During this debate the discussion turned to the question of whether EA could survive without Sony and Microsoft. Theyre one of the publishers that has a lot of power because of their licenses, so they could pretty much sell directly to their consumers on whatever platform they choose. But could they realistically survive without publishing on the two biggest consoles on the market? On the contrary, could Sony and Microsoft survive without EA? There are many Fifa and Madden only gamers in the world, so its definitely an interesting thought. Let us know what you think.

Swiffs Rant: The Final Fantasy XIII PC Version Is a Lazy Port

Added: 13.10.2014 15:12 | 9 views | 0 comments

Gary Swaby at The Koalition writes: After getting a chance to try out the release of Final Fantasy XIII I was shocked at the lack of optimal options in the game, and even more shocked to learn that the game only supported a 720p resolution. Almost all PC games that want to be taken seriously will provide settings for users to adjust the game based on their hardware (the biggest exception being games from decades ago), but Final Fantasy XIII lacked any graphical or audio settings.

The Co-op Podcast #94: Will Ubisoft Lock The Far Cry 4 Resolution?

Added: 12.10.2014 21:12 | 10 views | 0 comments

Gary Swaby of The Koalition writes: Controversy has struck again in the gaming industry, and it has lead to many gamers showing their ignorance for resolution and performance. Earlier in the week it came out that Ubisoft has capped the resolution of Assassins Creed: Unity to 900p/30fps on both the Xbox One and Playstation 4. It was also hinted that this was done to be fair to gamers on both platform, so one version doesnt run better than the other. Ubisoft has since done damage control, stating that 30fps is more cinematic. Whatever their intention was, should Ubisoft have just not said a word? Will they do the same with Far Cry 4? We discuss it on the show.
