[UPDATE] Techland issued a statement to GameSpot on Monday explaining the issue, and noting that it is currently working on another patch that will re-enable modding. The full statement is below.

"With the recent patch (1.2.1) on Steam we blocked cheating to make sure the game's PvP system (Be The Zombie) would not be abused. This, however, had the side-effect of hindering mod-makers from making changes to the game."

"Creating obstacles for modders has never been our intention. We are now working on a quick patch that will re-enable common tweaks while stopping cheating in the game's multiplayer mode."

"At Techland, we have always supported the mod community, and loved seeing how our own game can be changed by the players. A big part of the original Dead Island's success was the passion and creativity of mod-makers from our community. We want the same for Dying Light."

With Dying Light recently launched, you might find the game holds some similarities to the Dead Island series. This shouldn't be much of a surprise as the development of both the original Dead Island and Dying Light comes from Techland. The development company first created Dead Island video game but gave the rights to Deep Silver as it was the only deal that development team could get at the time. After the two companies ran into disagreements about the future of the Dead Island series, Techland decided to leave development of Dead Island 2 and start work on Dying Light.

VisMOwnZ decided to make a small manager tool for Dying Light wich allows users to simply check or uncheck options they want. Techland blocked cheating by changing games data files in a recent patch which is blocking players from gaining more performance, but with this tool you still can.

The story won't immerse you as much as it should, but that's perfectly acceptable in this sort of game. The storytelling is a step forward for the studio, even if it's not of the highest calibre; but it's certainly better than Dead Island and Riptide before it. If you've still got a thing for zombies, you should definitely give Dying Light a shot (preferably in the head)."
