Do Developers Track Records Influence Your Opinions on Games?

Added: 04.11.2013 21:21 | 3 views | 0 comments

Personally, although I admit to being influenced myself, when I play a game I try not to take into consideration what the developer or the publisher has done previously, what theyve done leading up to the game or how the product has been marketed. But I fear that because its so easy to be influenced by a developers reputation or track record peoples opinions on games will be inaccurate, faulty and twisted

Simon Says: There is No Need for the Graphical Obsession With Next Gen

Added: 02.11.2013 23:17 | 9 views | 0 comments

GameNTrain author Simon Marshall writes: Whenever a new game is released, the same is always said by gamers who are easily impressed. Wow, look at those graphics! There was a time when playing games such as FIFA 99 and Metal Gear Solid where I thought that these games were hugely impressive graphically. When you look back only a few years later when the PS one was replaced with the PS2, the graphics looked terrible in comparison as they all had flat faces and robotic body movements. With modern gaming there is such a huge demand for games to look the best they possibly can and I believe that this is hurting the industry. There are certain areas of gaming which are thriving even though they do not have the graphical prowess of the million dollar franchises.

Why I'm Going With A Steam Console and Wii U This Next Gen

GameNTrain author Christopher Carpenter writes: Over the past year or so, since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were announced, the Console Wars have been reignited with just as much fury as before. With the blind bias that many of the individual companys fans seem to emanate, not all are like this of course. It makes someone like me, who just cares for the greatness that this industry brings to us, in a state of annoyance over the petty arguments that these fandoms have generated. It is for these reasons that I have decided to completely skip the products offered by Sony and Microsoft out of the sake of preserving my own enjoyment of all games. My disagreement with these consoles are of course not confined to the fans bias. I am also quite displeased with their business practices as of late. Between Microsofts policy of buying early releases and exclusivity to Sonys recent actions of derision of their competitors, they have taken up very unprofessional tactics to appeal to th...

History and Legacy of the PlayStation 2

Added: 02.11.2013 23:17 | 7 views | 0 comments

GameNTrain author Luke Siuty writes: With retro gaming getting further back in history than ever (erm, were getting old), a monumental giant is retiring this year. It wont join the ranks of NES and even earlier gaming progenitors. It may even be a few decades before the general public considers this console retro. But Sonys PlayStation 2, officially the best-selling console of all time, hit its last year, 2013. Numbers speak for themselves over 155 million units sold, slightly over 3,800 games produced, the PlayStation 2 became synonymous with video game entertainment, entering the vocabulary of even the most clueless, interactive-entertainment-handicapped consumers.
