Rain preview: Japan Studio's other Ico heir | Eurogamer

The Last Guardian may still be AWOL, but there's another game from Sony's Japan Studio that takes on Team Ico's spirit. By Martin Robinson Of all Sony's philanthropic ideals - the all-inclusive approach to indie developers, the generosity of PlayStation Plus and the free packet of French fancies that's likely to be bundled with every PS4 console - there's one that remains unsung. PlayStation C.A.M.P. - that's Creator Audition Mash-up Project, by the way - is a little department within Japan Studio that's responsible for some of Sony's oddest games. The premise is simple, if a little hard to believe. PlayStation C.A.M.P. is an open-armed initiative that lets anyone with an idea pitch a game to Sony, and if they're successful, to see it through to completion with the assistance of established development talent. It has brought us Trash Panic (something of an unsung wonder itself), sparked off the project that became Echochrome, and recently had its highest profile hit with To...

Tales of Illyria Review | Hardcore Droid

Added: 30.05.2013 13:17 | 0 views | 0 comments

Hardcore Droid: "There's a strong undercurrent of nostalgia in the gaming industry these days, and Android is no exception to the rule. Throw a rock into the Play store and youre bound to hit at least one game with 8-bit graphics or some sort of throwback gameplay. While Tales of Illyria chooses the latter paradigm, it isn't exactly typical for it. The self-described Oregon Trail meets pen and paper gameplay is certainly indebted to its forebearers, but while other games merely rehash older games as the path of least resistance, Tales of Illyria uses the old mechanics to propel a thoroughly ambitious project: a vast and open world, full of choices, where no two playthroughs is alike. It succeeds on paper but whether the game is really worth the investment depends on who is playing. A diehard RPG fanatic raised on 12-hour marathon sessions of DD will definitely get more out of this title than a casual gamer."

TheSixthAxis Review: Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta Episode 1 Review

Added: 29.05.2013 12:18 | 0 views | 0 comments

"The word Unearthed is about two letter switches away from the word Uncharted and, indeed, it seems that this game is trying to emulate the success of Nathan Drakes big, blockbuster adventures. The set-up is very much the same: an avid fortune hunter Faris Jawad follows the footsteps of the Muslim explorer Ibn Battuta through uncharted and mysterious locations, with his female companion, Dania, for company."

"Episode 1 is a complete technical mess and borderline unplayable. Every single action be it walking, jumping, fighting or shooting, is an experience comprised of lag or even no reaction at all."
