Review: Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power - Short, But Extremely Sweet - The Games Cabin
Added: 07.09.2015 5:17 | 24 views | 0 comments
Despite its short length and sometimes sub-par puzzle mechanics, Trine 3 is still a cracking little game that fans of the series would do well to give a go. Brilliant visuals and enjoyable gameplay take a front seat here, while elsewhere the story is left with a tantalising cliff-hanger ending. - The Games Cabin

In this review, Alexx discusses how Trine 3 is short, but incredibly fun, stating - "Trine 3 is a pretty fun and enjoyable game. Despite its short campaign and lack of upgrades like in previous installments; Trine 3 is a great adventure that introduces new ideas to the series with the addition of the 3D environments and full 3D roaming instead of solely relying on 2D side scrolling."

Trine 3 is an absolutely stunning game, one that keeps true to the Trine roots but unfortunately fell prey to the sin of ambition.

One Angry Gamer "If Intelligent Cube was dipped in some cute sauce, you would likely end up with Digital Tribe Games and Cochoarts Almightree: The Last Dreamer. The game is a puzzle platformer that borrows inspiration from both Super Mario and Intelligent Cube, forcing gamers to think fast and react fast."

COG writes - Frozenbyte's latest entry into the Trine series is stunningly gorgeous and employs some innovative storytelling techniques but even that can't save it from its short length and lack of overall challenge.

Trine 3: Artifacts of Power is the third instalment in the Trine series, taking a rapid alternative approach to the physics-y puzzle/platformer genre. Unlike its predecessors, the game features movement on the Z-axis, and has made some key changes to each of the three main characters. From the offset, it's always strived to be one of the best looking platformers, and my god has it succeeded in doing so. Every screenshot is something of beauty and awe. It has however had to sacrifice longevity for the sake of 3D movement, and the differences don't stop there. Trine 3 is a whole new breed of the Trine IP, and it hasn't done it delicately; instead, it's come out all guns blazing, with each new mechanic and feature in full swing. The question many people are asking is whether this is still even a Trine game anymore, and whether the changes have been for better or for worse.

NZGamer:
Dear God, this game is beautiful. The Trine series has always had fabled visuals, and Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is no exception. Frozenbyte have brought to life what is probably my favourite looking game of the year. Medieval fantasy can sometimes feel drab and dreary, but Im continually blown away with what I see here. Does the rest of the game hold up? Maybe.
