MNJ: Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition has everything the iconic originl had. It extends the original campaign, adds to the co-op experience and strives to improve the online play. What more could we ask from a remastered work of art. sure it is not without its problems, but the original had most of these and that recieved tremendous reviews and praise. For me it makes the original experience seem fresh and exciting and that excitment is what the Gears series is all about. This will more than scratch that itch until the new title launches next year.

TSA: In the first few years of the Xbox 360s life, few games stood out as much as Gears of War. It represented almost everything gamers wanted from a new console generation. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is more than just a prettier skin on a nearly-ten-year-old video game. The Xbox One version brings some new tweaks to the third-person cover shooter, including refined mechanics and smoother gameplay. For instance, theres a new easy mode for the casual player which is nice if youre just looking to go on an alien-killing spree and dont care for more challenge. Toss in more checkpoints and better aim-assist, and the game gets that much more accessible. It also feels rather nice playing with the Xbox One controller, which is better in every way than the 360s.
