Best Narrative of 2014

Added: 11.01.2015 18:10 | 1 views | 0 comments

gamrReview's Joseph Trotter: "'Narrative? That's just stories, aye?' Sam said, leaning back in his chair. 'Why not just call it Best Stories and be done with it?' Four options appear on screen: Y) ... X) 'I can call it what I want!' B) 'You should probably watch out for that zombie.' A) 'Gaming has moved on from the genocide of turtles, Sam. Even the best of games previously had relatively simple stories, but developers have wised up to the idea that gamers want strong, coherent narratives to compel them through the game. The rise and popularity of narrative-driven games such as The Walking Dead testifies to this. High-grossing blockbuster games now consider the ways in which the gaming medium can push story-telling and how best to involve the player. Best Story would not emphasise the complete package required for a great narrative. Plus, Narrative sounds better.'"

Best Adventure Game of 2014

Added: 09.01.2015 1:14 | 9 views | 0 comments

gamrReview's Jake Weston: "2014 was a big year for Adventure gaming, with genre icon Tim Schafer returning with the first chapter of his long-anticipated Broken Age, Telltale Games continuing their winning streak with the one-two punch of The Walking Dead Season 2 and The Wolf Among Us (followed by the debut of Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones), and Vita owners getting their own exclusive pair of adventures with the murderous Danganronpa and Danganronpa 2. Only one game can take our pick for Best Adventure Game of 2014, but lovers of narratives in gaming cant go wrong with any of the nominees below."

The Walking Dead Season 2: No Going Back Review | Warp Zoned

Added: 08.01.2015 6:11 | 4 views | 0 comments

Warp Zoned writes: "The two adaptations of The Walking Dead produced by Telltale have been nothing short of amazing. Some of the best storytelling Ive ever experienced in a video game has come from these titles. Thats why it makes the finale of Season 2 so bittersweet it means Ill have to wait another year (at least) to see what happens in Season 3. Last season, this wasnt much of a problem: I purchased the full season when it was on sale, but it stayed in my backlog until Season 2 was announced. Then, I blazed through the first set of episodes in a five-day emotional rollercoaster. Once it was completed, I only had to wait a few months for the next chapter in Clementines struggle for survival. But for now, I must wait. And it will be excruciating. Because chapter five of Telltale Games The Walking Dead Season 2, No Going Back, marks the conclusion of one of the greatest games Ive ever played."

Game of Thrones: Episode 1 - "Iron From Ice" - GR Review

Added: 06.01.2015 22:00 | 8 views | 0 comments

Ice-breaker.

Telltale Games must have worked overtime in 2014, delivering four seasons of episodes from Tales from the Borderlands, The Walking Dead Season 2, The Wolf Among Us, and finally Game of Thrones at the tail end of the year. The concern that the developers are stretching itself thin and rushing Game of Thrones to hit the holiday season in early December is valid enough to raise an eyebrow. Fortunately, this first episode in a planned series of six delivers a satisfactory narrative that pairs well as a companion to the acclaimed HBO drama, though its illusion of choice is relatively thin despite the game's opening claim that the story adapts to your decisions.

"Amid the Ruins" Captures The Walking Dead Season Two's Biggest Push for Adventure Gaming

Added: 06.01.2015 0:30 | 6 views | 0 comments

With a license like Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead, I think it's interesting to see a well-defined and established thematic like a zombie apocalypse explode into various forms of media, but it wasn't until the fourth episode of season two that I saw how the developers hope it continues in video gaming.
