Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Review | MMGN

Added: 26.02.2015 7:17 | 1 views | 0 comments

MMGN: Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is a predictable expansion that ingrains deep strategy and customisation into the main games hack and slash combat. Its overwhelming for the uninitiated, but the vast customisation ensures fans will get out what they put in but that in itself is a point of contention. The Empire spin-offs have existed almost as long as the main series, and theres really nothing new here. The presentation is atrocious and the gameplay hideous, which is well below what we now expect from the current-generation of consoles. Its a solid strategy-based hack n slash, if you can overlook the poor presentation and stale combat, but Dynasty Warriors needs to start doing more if it wants to captivate a new audience, and retain existing fans, this generation.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Review | PSGamer

Psgamer: Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires offers something that the core games are sorely missing customisation and the possibility to make your own way through the Dynasty Warriors world. The Yellow Turban rebellion doesnt have to be doomed to failure. Lu Bu doesnt have to see his castle flooded. You can change the events of history and mould them however you see fit. The Empire mode has enough depth and variety to please the fans of the series and is accessible enough for newcomers alike, offering a wealth of replay value. Unfortunately the game suffers the same pit falls as most other Dynasty Warriors games, often reducing combat down to a thumb-achingly repetitive and occasionally boring slog.

Dragon Quest Heroes, a mashup of Square Enixs RPG series with Dynasty Warriors style gameplay, makes its debut in Japan this week. This will be the first Dragon Quest title for PlayStation since 2006 when Dragon Quest Final Fantasy in Fortune Street Portable came out for PSP and a roguelike spinoff starring a young Yangus came out for PS2. Considering how well Hyrule Warriors did, Dragon Quest Heroes should be a huge release in Japan. A bunch of Japanese games will arrive in the West this week including French Bread fighter Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late, Stings strategy RPG Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
