Added: 10.07.2014 22:13 | 6 views | 0 comments

With episode five, Cry Wolf, Telltale Games brings their first Vertigo adaptation to an end, and its quite likely from the reception of this first season that this Fables-based game is just that; the first of more seasons. As to be expected from any concluding episode, theres a fixed goal in mind for this installment and choices that have been made in past episodes play out to show you what kind of world youve made, and what kind of influence youve had on people. For anyone thats a fan of adventure games, episode five of The Wolf Among Us delivers the goods in a satisfying way.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 5: Cry Wolf Review (Strategy Informer)

From Strategyinformer.com: "After winning all the awards with The Walking Dead it was clear that Telltale had finally found mainstream acceptance rather than just their usual crowd of ex-LucasArts fans (Sam Max Lives). Their follow-up effort had to be equally incredible if they were going to keep their winning streak, and while not all the episodes have been amazing The Wolf Among Us has told an engaging, mature, and above all excellent story that only works as well as it does by being a videogame. Now at last the final episode is here, and Telltale's difficult second album (well, technically twenty-second, but I'm speaking "post Jurassic Park" here) can at last be judged as a whole. And like Bigby Wolf I'm going to have to look at the big picture if I'm going to make the right call."

AusGamers has reviewed the fifth and final episode in The Wolf Among Us and writes: It doesn't have The Walking Deads gut-punch moments, and the absence of traditional point n click puzzles is perhaps a step too far for a game about solving a mystery, but right at the end the season came together as an effective study of these characters, and how their choices and beliefs have affected their community.

John from We Got This Covered wrote: Please note that this review will contain some minor spoilers for previous episodes of The Wolf Among Us. With Cry Wolf, Telltales The Wolf Among Us finally reaches the conclusion its been heading for since the first episode launched all the way back in October of last year. And as big a fan that Ive been of this episodic game since I first started playing it, I was a bit nervous going into the finale after the fourth episode, which was incredibly brief compared to previous installments, leading to a less satisfying overall experience. I was concerned that, after doing such a good job with the series until that point, Telltale would somehow drop the ball again and give us a disappointing finale. The fact that people are naturally going to compare it to the well-done ending of the first season of The Walking Dead didnt make expectations any smaller for Bigby Wolfs crime-solving adventure title.
