The diversity seen in the genre this year greatly surpasses that of previous year. We saw the resurgence of over-the-top, mind-numbing action with Wolfenstein: The New Order and Far Cry 4, greater speed in the genre than ever before with Titanfall and Sunset Overdrive, and, overall, a greater emphasis placed on fun before anything else. Our faith in the shooter genre has been waning for a couple of years now, but 2014 has redeemed the shooter genre in our eyes."
