Yoshi's Real Name Starts With a 'T'

Blake J. Harris, the author for the recent book Console Wars, has tweeted several scans from the official Nintendo Character Guide in 1993 which reveal that Yoshi's real name is sort of gangsta (hence, the video above):
Yoshi, properly known as T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas, had been held captive in an egg until Mario (homo nintendonus) bopped along and rescued him. Instantly, the young dinosaur and the plumber became fast friends. Together, they set out to rescue Yoshi's dinosaur pals from the wickedness of Bowser.
So what does the 'T' stand for? I have no idea. I think it has to do with our fascination with the T-Rex (Tyrannosaurus Yoshisaur does sound badass), but it might as well be something like Tiberius. Whatever the case, I'm glad Nintendo settled on the nickname Yoshi instead of Muncha. "Muncha's Wooly World" would have sounded nasty. More in www.gamerevolution.com »
