Winner: Sunset Overdrive It's not hard to discover the derivative nature of Insomniac's open-world shooter featuring energy-drink swilling yahoos who'd sooner eat your face off than offer you a free can. In fact, collecting Overcharge in Sunset City becomes a wholly entertaining distraction because of how easy it can be to slide into the rhythmic gameplay. It sounds foolish to bounce from picnic table umbrella to literally slide on water, only to wall-run and then grind a few miles via wire. Still, Sunset Overdrive's drop-dead gorgeous visual flair pushes this comforting and classically inspired gameplay design over the line to nab this award.
