One of the main criticisms we had of the Bronze Award-winning Terraria was its lack of multiplayer. Today, 505 Games has remedied this by adding up to four player co-op to Terraria on iOS. The same update on Android doesn't appear to be available as of writing. The newly added multiplayer works across any device using wi-fi.
