News: Alienware to launch Steam Box this year without SteamOS

The system, called Alienware Alpha, will cost $550 and will come with Windows OS and an Xbox 360 controller, along with a dongle to support up to four 360 pads. The box itself looks almost identical to Alienware's planned Steam Machine.
So despite being Alienware's Steam machine, it won't ship with Steam's OS or its new bespoke controller. Both were planned for a 2014 release, but back in May Valve announced they had been pushed back into 2015. There was also no official launch date for Europe.
