Nintendo recently made the very unexpected announcement of a redesign of the 3DS, rebranded as the 2DS. The handheld removes the stereoscopic 3D visuals and clamshell design, looking something akin to a doorstop. Itll likely be sold to the millions of kids grabbing Pokemon X and Y while hardcore gamers will grouse at the boxy design. But students of gaming history know this isnt even the worst Nintendo redesign ever.
