New Assassin's Creed comic will hint at franchise's future

India-set Brahman comic book features "extremely strong hints" about where the franchise is headed after ACIV: Black Flag.

The upcoming Assassin's Creed: Brahman comic will feature "extremely strong hints" about where the mainline franchise is headed after this fall's .

Writer Brenden Fletcher revealed the news to GameSpot in an interview from San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. He explained that players who want to know what's next for the series will want to pick up a copy of the new comic.

"The story that's in the present is really significant and is filled with hints for what you'll see in the future," Fletcher said. "I can't say much more than that about the hints, of course, but if you're really excited about Assassin's Creed games and you want to know where everything's going past Black Flag and into the future, there are extremely strong hints in Brahman."

Assassin's Creed: Brahman is set in 1839 India, though the comic does bounce back and forth between the past and the present. It features an all-new assassin, Arbaaz Mir, and takes place during the Colonial British rule.

According to Fletcher, in Brahman, Mir is faced with the struggle of choosing between what he wants in his heart and what the Brotherhood is forcing him to do. At the core of the story will be a hunt for an extremely powerful object. The comic is due out this fall.

Ubisoft Toronto is , though details about this project have not been revealed. Ubisoft has launched a new core Assassin's Creed game every year since 2009.
