| 'Alien: Isolation' Succeeds By Emphasizing Survival, Not Horror
Added: 03.11.2014 8:20 | 5 views | 0 comments
Forbes: Alien: Isolation exists as both a video game based on the iconic Alien universe, and official canon taking place between Ridley Scotts 1979 classic and James Camerons 1986 sequel. Alien and Aliens are tonally different films, and Alien: Isolation does a fantastic job of capturing the atmosphere of the original film. This is survival horror at its finest its as much about surviving an ever-present, palpable tension as it is surviving an overpowering enemy.
Sometimes its about surviving your own potentially terrible instincts.

| PlayDevil: Alien: Isolation Review

PlayDevil has reviewed Alien: Isolation for Xbox One
Here is a snippet:
"And this is a game which again takes more cues from the first film than the second once again you have limited resources, a confined space from which you cannot escape and a single Alien stalking the vents and decks, with no method of killing it. If the Alien sees you, then its game over, man. The main selling point of the game for me is the Aliens AI whilst its not perfect, its different every time (even between saves if you die), meaning that you cant rely on the same strategies to survive. This does make the game infinitely more terrifying, as you never know where the Alien may come from."

| Alien: Isolation Crew Expendable DLC Walkthrough and Impressions
Added: 28.10.2014 10:12 | 5 views | 0 comments
Alien: Isolation is a great game. The game is a huge love letter to the original Alien film and is effectively a truer sequel to that movie than Aliens was.
The games homage to Alien didnt just end with recreating that films atmosphere however. There are two DLCs for it which let you play as the members of the Nostromo crew. This DLC is called Crew Expendable and is a what if of sorts. The game takes place shortly after the Alien is born and after it has killed two of the crew members. The survivors hatch a plan of trapping it in an airlock and this is where the game begins.

| Alien: Isolation Video Review (Game Watcher)

From GameWatcher.com: "Never in the history of gaming have I been hurt so bad by a game as I was with Aliens: Colonial Marines. It looked like the exact game I always wanted, even right up to seeing that infamous demo (which I wrote a preview for), and then the game came out and my dreams went up in smoke (and mirrors). SEGA now has to pull something major to make me start caring about the Aliens franchise again. Dropping the 's', making one single unkillable Xenomorph, and putting it in a first-person stealth/survival horror title? That'll do nicely, even if developer Creative Assembly are entirely known for RTS'. Oh well, Monolith are mostly FPS developers and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was a cracking third-person Batman-em-up, so I'm prepared to give CA a chance.

After a slew of games that have ranged from disappointing (Alien vs. Predator) to the downright awful (Aliens: Colonial Marines), the Aliens franchise hasnt had much luck in the virtual realm of video games. Developer Creative Assembly aims to change that with Alien: Isolation, a terrifying game of cat and mouse set in the Sevastopol space station.
