E3 2014: Alien Isolation hands-on impressions | NerdReactor

NerdReactor writes: SEGA invited us for a early hands-on sneak peek at some of their titles and I had the opportunity to try out one thats been on my radar for some time, Creative Assemblys Alien: Isolation. I was led into a silent room where columns of systems were set up. The lights blanketed the room in green hue that was eerily reminiscence of the Aliens nesting grounds. A dead silence permeated throughout. Sitting down in station with a controller and noise isolating headphones, I began my nightmarish battle with the Alien. After a brief introduction, I stepped foot into the shoes of Amanda Ripley.

One Hit Pixel Preview: In Alien: Isolation Youre Never Truly Alone

One Hit Pixel: "It seems that The Creative Assembly has been tasked by Sega with the question :Why have games from the Aliens franchise failed? With Alien: Isolation, the answer theyve come up with is simple drop the S and focus on what made the original film a classic. That meant getting rid of the high-tech shooters weve seen in the past and instead focus on terrifying the player by making them bait for the sole Xenomorph."

The good, the bad, the invariably ugly and the truly horrific.
This week's Deal of the Week is a testament to mankind's conviction that if there is life on other planets, it probably wants to use your ribcage as an eggbox. It's also a testament to the untold woe that has been inflicted on H.R. Giger's greatest monstrosity over the years, though there are a few bright spots - Rebellion's Aliens vs Predator isn't half bad.

Aliens vs. Predator Takes Capcom into Deep Space: Today in History- May 20th, 1994

Carl Williams writes, "Wow, has it really been 20 years since Capcom took on the Aliens vs Predator license? This is one of the better brawlers from this era and very much worthy of being played if you can track down a cabinet, yeah, this one never came home (no, the SNES game by Activision doesnt count). This is Capcom and this is a brawler on the CPS-2 hardware which means Final Fight style graphics and gameplay but with movie licensed characters just waiting to slice you in half."
