By Shawn Layden "Where were you 20 years ago?
I was in Tokyo, already enjoying my PlayStation as it had launched over nine months earlier in Japan, December 3, 1994, and I am sure I was still chasing the final black racer in Ridge well into 1995. By the time the PlayStation launched in North America on 9/9/95, I was splitting my time between Tekken and Battle Arena Toshinden and trying to get a US copy of ESPN Street Games (incidentally, the first game I worked on at SCEI to localize for the Japanese market"

VGChartz' William D'Angelo Writes: "To celebrate the original PlayStation's 20th anniversary milestone in North America, we here at VGChartz have decided to take look back on the original PlayStation era from a strictly sales perspective.
Sony's debut console effort managed to sell an incredible 104.25 million units before it was taken off the market. Not only was it the first home console to exceed 100 million units sold, it still remains in the top 4 in terms of overall platform sales and is only second behind its successor, the PlayStation 2, in terms of home consoles.
Looking at the regional breakdown we can see how strong the platform was in all major regions. It sold best in North America with 38.94 million units, but it also proved popular in Europe, where it managed to shift 36.91 million units, and Japan, where 19.36 million units were sold. The rest of the world accounted for the final 9.04 million units.
As one might expect from such a popular platform, software sa...

Woo-hoo! The original PlayStation launched in North America 20 years ago today! To commemorate the big day, I thought it might be fun to crack open a sealed original PlayStation system -- something I haven’t done since I was in middle school.

| Bandai Namco trademarks Burning Blood, Thousand Storm, and Slashy Souls in the U.S. and Europe

Bandai Namco has filed three new trademarks in the United States and Europe.
In Europe, the company filed a trademark for Burning Blood. Bandai Namcos Japanese subsidiary doesnt have a game that matches this title, but it does have the similarly subtitled Crows: Burning Edge in development for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita (pictured).
In the United States, Bandai Namco trademarked the names Thousand Storm and Slashy Souls. The former was already trademarked in Japan. The latter sounds like it could be some sort of mobile Dark Souls spin-off. (But of course, this is just baseless speculation.)
Bandai Namco also trademarked Sky Kid in Europe. In March, the game was re-released on the Wii U Virtual Console in North America and Japan. Perhaps this means a European release is on the way.

While North America and Europe still wait on Summon Night 5 for PSP and Vita, Bandai Namco has revealed Summon Night 6: Lost Borders for Vita and PS4 as a 2016 release in Japan.
The game takes place in a world called Fillujah, which sounds ballsy considering that a game with "Fallujah" got canceled not long ago. Food falls from the sky in Fillujah, because why the fuck wouldn't it?
