| Bioshock Infinite will take your breath away at £6.85 on PS3/360
Added: 01.01.2015 21:11 | 30 views | 0 comments
Dealspwn writes: Bioshock Infnite is now impossible to ignore for £6.85. and to think we reularly spend over £30 on games on release, only for them to fall to this price. Maybe I should work on 'the pile' a bit before picking up the likes of Witcher III and Batman. Yeah, like that's going to happen.
With one of the most talked about stories in years, Bioshock Infinite deserves a place in any gamer's collection. The roller coaster-like rails to move around the sky-high city are fantastic fun to use as you and Elizabeth try to escape the mad clutches of Comstock and the Songbird. Elizabeth herself is a great character as her powers to pull items through dimensional tears, lockpicking and looting all come in handy. Fans of Rapture may want to check out the Burial at Sea DLC too.

| Marrying Mechanics, Theme And Story. Or Why Ludonarrative Dissonance is A Problem
Added: 21.12.2014 8:11 | 18 views | 0 comments
Baden of WGB: "Ludonarrative dissonance became a massively popular phrase among journalists around 2012-2013, with Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider being two games heavily targeted as being guilty of the crime. Sadly, though, most people didnt actually know what ludonarrative dissonance was and thus the phrase was often mis-used. Journalists would toss the phrase around but never bother to tell people what it actually meant, sprinkling it into reviews and leaving readers to figure out its meaning through context. Because of that the term became associated with games that had high levels of violence, and the importance of ludonarrative dissonance was quickly swept under the rug and then largely forgotten about. The phrase passed out of fashion."

| Shadow of Mordor design director on the Nemesis System: Baby steps to a larger goal
Added: 21.12.2014 0:15 | 19 views | 0 comments
Bioshock creator Ken Levine recently wrote a piece on how Monolith Productions Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor inspired various ideas he wishes to incorporate into his unannounced video game project.
Interestingly enough, Shadow of Mordors design director, Michael de Plater recently discussed how Levines Bioshock series inspired Shadow of Mordor - stating that Monolith favored Bioshocks method of environmental storytelling, but wanted to devise a way in which the narrative didnt just look or feel real, but was real leading to Shadow of Mordors lauded Nemesis System.
However, as well-received as it was, de Plater calls what they have accomplished "baby steps" towards a much larger goal.
