| GamesAsylum - Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review
Added: 01.06.2015 10:16 | 20 views | 0 comments
GamesAsylum: "It so transpires that when escaping from a heavily guarded enemy fortress its essential to carry a strong metal pipe. In the hands of chisel-jawed war hero B.J. Blazkowicz such a simple object becomes an invaluable tool of many uses, from prying open doors and breaking down broken walls to knocking unaware enemy soldiers off their feet, ready for a swift and silent final blow to the head.
The first part of this standalone prequel entails BJ and his comrade disguising themselves as Nazi soldiers to sneak intel out of a large cliff-based stronghold. Things dont quite go to plan, however, prompting a daring escape against great odds. Before making a hasty retreat, exploring the Nazis prison cells, unkempt kennels and other such delightful places provides an unearthly and harrowing experience"

| The secret history of the Legacy of Kain
Added: 31.05.2015 19:16 | 7 views | 0 comments
KSD: At this point, the Legacy of Kain series is difficult for one unfamiliar with its twists to enter into. The last game, Defiance, was released in 2003; its predecessor is almost fourteen years old; Soul Reaver, the ambitious seed that sprouted into an almost impenetrable forest, was released for the original PlayStation; its predecessor Blood Omen is orphaned abandonware. Accompanying this generational regression is the sheer inconvenience of leaving behind the latest advances in graphics and sound to return to their more primitive counterparts: the farther we go back, the more rudimentary the graphics and the flatter the sound until we come to Soul Reaver and its monologues in monophonic or Blood Omens top-down 32-bit palette. The irony of being forced, like the series character Raziel, to delve into a decrepit past to discover a worthwhile narrative should not go unnoticed.

PSGamer : What Wolfenstein: The Old Blood manages to pull off is actually quite remarkable. Its a rogues gallery of overused gaming tropes evil Nazis, zombies, evil Nazi zombies, mechanical super soldiers, crumbling castles, fog filled cemeteries and an underground temple but The Old Blood mixes these tired old devices with intelligent level design slick game play resulting in a refreshing, tense single player shooter.
