Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review | NZGamer

NZG: When Wolfenstein: The New Order came out last year, most publications were pleasantly surprised. In a franchise with more lows than highs, it delivered competent shooting, with a focus on story and the singleplayer experience. It was a game that revelled in its ridiculousness, but it was far from mindless. It had more ambition than a game about shooting up robo-Nazis had any right to.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review | Mouse n Joypad

MNJ: Wolfenstein: The Old Blood delivers a blood soaked expoerience that most gamers will love, but it loses its idenity by putting the story second. I enjoyed the battles and while I felt it was a tad short, I don't think I could have gone through another few hours of traveling between engagements. As a small prequel to The New Order it justifies its existance. You have to go into this one with no expectations and just take it as it comes, looking for a deep story or interesting characters will only serve to disappoint

FreakOrama writes: "It's worth its price for the content and quality that you'll get, but if you didn't like the main game then you'll probably won't like this one, but for me I'd wholeheartedly recommended getting and playing this game as I did immensely enjoy the main game. I was happy killing Space Nazis, and I'm happy now killing Nazi Zombies. Although I do hope they mix the two at some point, Space Nazi Zombies."

VR Jam Spotlight: Old School Run n Gun Gets The VR Treatment in Blood Justice

Added: 10.05.2015 21:17 | 10 views | 0 comments

VRFocus - The classic run n gun formula has produced a number of memorable series through the years, all of which have had their own very specific style. The likes of Metal Slug, Alien Syndrome, Gunstar Heroes, Turrican and, the classic Konami videogame, Contra, have all left their mark on the videogame industry. As a genre, however, runn gun, has somewhat faded away in terms of popularity with both gamers and videogame creators. Now one entry into the Oculus Mobile VR Jam is looking to bring back this neglected genre and also give it a virtual reality (VR) twist in Blood Justice.

A dark 80s aesthetic has come to multiple different video game genres in the past few years. Far Cry: Blood Dragon showed its 80s flair in a first-person shooter and Hotline Miami brought the same to an action game. Thanks to Power drive 2000, currently getting funded on Kickstarter, we see a similar style in a racing game.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review | Game Informer

GI: The Wolfenstein bloodline is one of the richest veins in the first-person shooter lineage. Only six games have appeared in the series since the hallowed 1992 3D release that kicked off the genre, and every entry (excluding the milquetoast 2009 release) has garnered some degree of praise. Machine Games has tapped this bloodline to create a standalone expansion to the New Order that serves as an homage to the past achievements of this storied franchise.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review | Gamerant

GR: Prior to its release in the summer of 2014, anticipation for Wolfenstein: The New Order was relatively low. Sure, it was a familiar name, but up to that point previews of the game had done little to inspire confidence in MachineGames reboot. That all changed once people actually played Wolfenstein: The New Order, however, which revealed itself to be a stunning display of unique gunplay and compelling narrative. Game Rant even counted it among the 10 best games of the year, a distinction we never could have predicted.
