MMGN: Xenoblade Chronicles seems an odd choice to get a 3D makeover exclusively for the marginally more powerful New 3DS. But perhaps its actually a genius masterstroke thatll appease upgraders, without alienating the 40 million-odd Old 3DS users in the wild. The concept doesnt really fit the 3DS because the scope of the world is so massive, too massive for a tiny screen, and yet thats also why its kind of perfect; the 50 hours will come and go, and youll still be amazed that such a technically marvellous game was played on 3DS. With a reputation as one of the best games on Wii, it has a pass to snub those who havent upgraded to a New 3DS. They can play on Wii or Wii U, and could have four years ago, so its not like only those that clamber for new-form Nintendo tech have access to a prized exclusive. This is an old game, exclusively for New 3DS. But its an amazing game, a JRPG a much wider audience can appreciate, and a reason to validate getting that extra nub.

While the 3D effects are not the most impressive on the system, the game more than makes up for it with its incredible gameplay and story.
