Alien: Isolation Review (Strategy Informer)

Added: 15.10.2014 11:12 | 3 views | 0 comments

From Strategyinformer.com: "Never in the history of gaming have I been hurt so bad by a game as I was with Aliens: Colonial Marines. It looked like the exact game I always wanted, even right up to seeing that infamous demo (which I wrote a preview for), and then the game came out and my dreams went up in smoke (and mirrors). SEGA now has to pull something major to make me start caring about the Aliens franchise again. Dropping the 's', making one single unkillable Xenomorph, and putting it in a first-person stealth/survival horror title? That'll do nicely, even if developer Creative Assembly are entirely known for RTS'. Oh well, Monolith are mostly FPS developers and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was a cracking third-person Batman-em-up, so I'm prepared to give CA a chance. ".

An atmospheric improvement over Colonial Marines, but still not as much fun as it could've been.

AAG's Damon writes: "Calling out to all Alien fans,I have some good news! Segas latest game, Alien: Isolation is finally out and its actually amazing! Its been quite some time since a good Alien game has been made, the less said about Colonial Marines the better, and this is a great turn out. Get ready to pull out that motion tracker and hide in lockers and under tables, watching that dot getting closer and closer."

Its been along time since the original Alien movie came out and Alien Isolation pays tribute to the Ridley Scott classic film. In 2012 Aliens Colonial Marines was released and disappointing millions of fans around the globe. This time around, this game sets itself to be more like the first Alien film rather than the second one. The player plays as Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley and is pitted against a single Xenomorph that relentlessly hunts the player throughout the entire game.

The franchise, thanks to its rich characters, and of course the killer alien, is perfect source material for an amazing video game experience, but unfortunately, at least up until now, no game developer has really been able to do the series justice in playable form, nor have any of the games ever recaptured the terror you may have experienced while watching the first Alien film. The disturbing trend of mediocre Alien games remained strong throughout history, with Alien: Colonial Marines almost cementing the fact that no game developer really had the keys to success for making a fantastic Alien video game experience. Luckily, in 2014 this trend has been killed off, and hopefully for good, thanks to Creative Assemblys brilliant take on the franchise with its multi-platform Alien: Isolation title.

From Cinelinx: After a disastrous endeavor with Aliens: Colonial Marines, Sega had much to prove with Alien: Isolation. Fortunately the game delivers, and fans of the Alien franchise are left with the experience theyve been waiting for.

Far from the travesty that was Colonial Marines, there are hints of greatness in Alien: Isolation.

Avoiderdragon: When Aliens: Colonial Marines was released, it made for some really tough times for Sega and Gearbox Software, the latter of which wasnt doing too badly anyway since they have their Borderlands franchise to fall back on. As one of the worst games of 2013, it was a game with so much hype and promise that proceeded to crash and burn. What a lot of people didnt know until much later is that there was another Alien game in the works, and it has now been released.
