Bioshock Infinite Review (MasonicGamer)

Added: 25.03.2013 13:18 | 5 views | 0 comments

MasonicGamer.com: Bioshock Infinite is the third entry in the series although it isnt your typical sequel, its actually not even a sequel at all as the game takes place before the events of Bioshock. Calling Bioshock Infinite a sequel is a bit of a dirty word as much has changed this time round, if Bioshock 2 left you wanting for something more unique and fresh then Bioshock Infinite has you covered. I prefer to refer to it as a game within the Bioshock universe, it has its own identity and isnt trying to compete with past games but rather add to them. You play as Booker Dewitt in Columbia 1912, a disgraced former agent of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency who meets a young girl by the name of Elizabeth.

"Is it someone new? Four words. Four seemingly innocuous words that, to the average gamer, mean very little. Yet to hardcore fans of the BioShock series these will be the first things you attach yourself to as you are welcomed to the flying city of Columbia by a shady looking priest. Swapping sea for sky, Ken Levine and his talented squad of developers (Irrational Games, 2K Marin) return to BioShock to deliver arguably this gaming generations final swan-song. Are 2Ks lofty ambitions fully realised in Infinite, or is this a game that flies too close to the proverbial sun that once set in Rapture little over six years ago?" Gary Marston, Explosion.com

"From the beginning you can tell something isnt quite right with BioShock Infinite. And, thankfully, thats exactly how a BioShock game should be; as with Rapture, theres something extremely unsettling about the city of Columbia something other than the ahead-of-its-time quantum levitation keeping the city afloat and the humanoid automatons protecting the citizens."
