Chad from We Got This Covered wrote: Last year, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix combined to release one of the best games of the last generation. Said title was, of course, Tomb Raider, which marked an attempt by the companies to bring the formerly great series and its iconic heroine back to the forefront of gamers minds. As we all know, their decision to go back to the busty explorers roots and re-tell her origins story proved to be a good one, as it resulted in both acclaim and awards, including Game of the Year contention.

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Review - Cash Grab or Money Well Spent? | COG

Added: 27.01.2014 21:16 | 12 views | 0 comments

Lara Croft is back for a next-gen refresh of last years hugely successful Tomb Raider with the Definitive Edition. Do the upgraded graphics and extra content bring much to the table or is this just a $60 cash grab? "Unless youve been living under a rock youve likely played, or at least heard of, the Tomb Raider reboot that was released to consoles back in March of 2013. A franchise that was at great risk of drowning in mediocrity and fading away was given one more chance to come up for air and start fresh. The team at Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics managed to not only breathe new life into Lara Croft but also give the franchise legs to carry on even further. By all accounts it was one of the best games of 2013 diving into Lara Crofts origin story and how she became the tomb raiding adventurer we all know and love."

Review: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (PS4)

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is a great game made better.

Crystal Dynamics' reimagining of the Tomb Raider franchise actually doesn't venture that far from the template introduced years ago. Combat, puzzles, platforming – it's all here. The entertainment comes in the way it's been presented. Aside from absolutely kicking the s**t out of Lara Croft from the moment it starts to the closing credits – which does help you connect to her as a character – it's excellently placed and never falls into any sort of pattern. It constantly tries to keep you on your toes.

With the Definitive Edition, you're getting all of that again, except...

Nerdist Review- Betad: Lara Croft At Her Best In Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Added: 27.01.2014 8:16 | 9 views | 0 comments

Malik Forté of Nerdist.com writes: "When Lara Croft stepped back into the gaming space last year, it was reminiscent of those high school days when classmates would return from summer break completely transformed, in this case to a much more mature and appealing stature. Youd be hard pressed to find many bad things to say about Crystal Dynamics reboot of the Tomb Raider series. Our very own Dan Casey said it best: The game is damn fun to play, borrowing elements from series like Uncharted and Assassins Creed and stirring them in a fantastic pot of original ideas and ingenuity. Now, the newly-released Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition brings last years amazing experience to the PS4 and Xbox One."

USG Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Review: Challenging The PC

Added: 26.01.2014 11:16 | 9 views | 0 comments

"Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is an excellent port for PS4 and Xbox One, with some great graphical improvements. You can tell Crystal Dynamics pulled out all of the stops to make this the best version of Tomb Raider. If you've played it before, it may be worth a rent. If you haven't, the Definitive Edition is great purchase that outclasses the PC edition. Unfortunately, the potential price gulf between this version and the PC version can make it a hard sell." - Mike Williams, USGamer

Lara too Pretty to Bleed? Violence Toned Down In Definitive Tomb Raider

Hardcore Gamer: Theres been a lot of controversy over whether or not Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is a worthy project. Crystal Dynamics tried to quell the backlash against Square Enix charging a full $59.99 for the next-gen re-release by basically saying because the game is awesome (a statement in which we did agree with), but not everybody has been too keen on the look of the game itself.

GearNuke: "We all know that Crystal Dynamics are currently working on a sequel to their Tomb Raider reboot, that was released last year, and got a re-release on next generation consoles with a graphics overhaul. Crystal Dynamics have confirmed that they plan to use the same engine for their next game, but they will make 'Significant Enhancements' to that engine."
