Crystal Dynamics Focusing on Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and its Sequel, No Story DLC Planned

Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that their 2013 hit, Tomb Raider, will not be receiving any story-based DLC to coincide with the release of the Definitive Edition or in the future. The team has thrown all of their resources into developing the Definitive Edition for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in addition to the games unannounced sequel.

Confirmation follows comments from Crystal Dynamics last month, which said that it was "still optimizing the game for both platforms and will be doing so until we release to manufacturing so that we get the highest performance possible," leading some to believe that the game could render at 60FPS.

Last year's Tomb Raider was a most enjoyable romp, with a whole new Lara and an origin story that freed Crystal Dynamics to do whatever they wanted with the series. When it wound up, fans hoped for more Lara adventures potentially in the form of DLC - yet oddly, all the additional content that did arrive were cosmetic and additions to multiplayer.

During the Steam Dev Days event, Valve announced that it would be working with Oculus to bring VR gaming to the masses instead of creating a headset of its own.

In fact, Oculus and Valve worked together to develop the new tracking features found in the Crystal Cove prototype. By using a combination of an external camera, markers, and sensors, the device can better track the position of the player.
