The game is part of Crytek's shift into entirely free-to-play development, an intention stated in February 2013 by the developer's chief executive Cevat Yerli.

The beta features three versus modes, four playable classes, plus a handful of PvE co-op missions. The versus modes are your standard Team Deathmatch and plant the bomb fare, while the classes are made up of Rifleman, Medic, Engineer and Sniper.
