The Engima That Is Dragons Dogma

Added: 13.11.2013 3:17 | 2 views | 0 comments

Sean Halliday of Pixel Gate writes: ''Dragons Dogma has prompted the strangest range of reviews in quite some time. From near perfect scores to full on condemnations, Dragons Dogma is a strange beast. The last time a game divided opinions in such a manner (at least the last game I recall) was 2009s Deadly Premonition. Marred by low production values and some rigid controls, Deadly Premonition was in actual fact a deep and clever little game. Fast forward to 2012 and Deadly Premonition has developed a cult hit status. Dragons Dogma seems destined to go the same way.''

A Morbid Taste for Crime: Hannibal and Deadly Premonition

Added: 12.11.2013 18:23 | 2 views | 0 comments

Videogameologists: All these TV crime dramas are the same. Dismembered victims lay waiting for genius detective to solve their murder, and all it takes is thirty something minutes to find the killer. Boring. Well a new crime drama is dicing the competition by proving its different from the rest of the slow burners. Hannibal, titled after the main antagonist of Silence of the Lambs and based on the characters of the novel Red Dragon, just got renewed for a second season after a lackluster ratings run. How can something rated so low get renewed for another season? I dont know, but NBC seems to be on roll with producing smart, quality shows while trailing behind ratings wise. A sad reality, though not for fans of Hannibal. Besides the great acting and story, something in this show reminisces very familiar to a certain game I played before that I would have never compared this great show to had I not read a certain tweet.

Sean Halliday of Pixel Gate writes: ''For every triple-A video game theres a bunch of lower budget (and brow) games. More often than not the lower budget games tend to fall into the bottomless pit of obscurity. From time to time, one of these low budget games somehow manages to break through into the mainstream. This is when things become interesting and cult hits are made. Deadly Premonition is the perfect example of this.''

GYP: "This is my example of a perfect game, the kind of game every other game should strive to be. Not in that every game should be a quirky mystery story, but that developers shouldnt be afraid to go beyond what is considered acceptable and do their own thing."
