Is there anything seriously wrong? Yes. There's lots of graphical and environmental bugs in the game. My character would get stuck in odd animated positions and then float around endlessly. Sometimes I'd just get plain stuck with no way out other than quitting the game and restarting. The hud is also very cluttered and often restricts the view of the environment. Only when the action breaks for a cinematic animation do we really get to look at the amazing world.
It's great that Defiance is free to play and its story continues to get better as I go along. I'm grateful also to be aiming and shooting instead of clicking a set of keyboard keys over and over again in a predefined pattern. It's fun to play Trion Worlds' interconnected game but I'd wish the two universes (television and video game) were more reactive to the events that take place in their counterparts. Even the illusion of such a dynamic would suffice. It's beautiful and well acted but gameplay bugs...

Daniel Craig Trion Worlds must be happy.
Within one month of release Defiance has triumped one million registered users across all platforms. Rift, Trion Worlds' other MMO, similarly broke into the seven digits within weeks of launch. Unsurprisingly, both games had launches that are regarded as smooth by MMO standards. While other companies have struggled to have one solid launch, Trion Worlds has managed to do it two times in a row.

VideoGamer: "Despite the tedium of the missions, Defiance has a one more go thing going for it that other shoot and loot games (COUGHRiptideSPLUTER) dont. Its a grindfest, but one that becomes pretty immersive, should you be willing to give it a go particularly if youre of a derivative sci-fi bent. Although we still advocate the systematic punishment of the person that wrote saucy little vixen."
