Why yes, I frequently resort to rank hyperbole following Nintendo Directs, but we were treated to one of the most competent and engaging game-related presentations I've encountered in quite some time. More importantly, though, Splatoon is looking absolutely superb. Nintendo's first real stab at a multiplayer shooter seems set to be their most forward-thinking games in years, offering both unique and exciting gameplay, loads of content, a post-launch content strategy including free DLC, all while bringing the fun and colour back to a genre that's only just digging itself out of a serious funk. In effect it's applying their traditional values to an entirely new arena."
