Talking Point: Should More Games Try to Teach Us Something?

Push Square: "Edutainment is a dirty word. We typically associate the embarrassing portmanteau with low budget trash such as Mario Teaches Typing and Donkey Kong Jr. Math or worse still, the borderline archaic Flash and Shockwave minigames that litter government websites. However, are we letting bad examples impede the true potential of educational games and should the industry be doing more to challenge us at an academic level from time to time?"

"In a recent interview, Shigeru Miyamoto, the famed designer behind franchises like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Star Fox, stated that he sees Nintendo as its own genre and feels that it should be recognized as such. Furthermore, Miyamoto commented that many other studios may just be trying to make games that may seem cool to the public, but Nintendo tries to concentrate on making games fun" -- Nintendo Enthusiast.

Why Nintendo is the biggest threat to my wallet come the holiday season

Added: 24.06.2014 19:13 | 16 views | 0 comments

mii-gamer: Quality release for Nintendo between the 3DS and Wii U during the first half year of 2014 has been few and far between. From the top of my head Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Bravely Default, Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario Golf: World Tour being the highlights of the year so far from a Nintendo fan perspective. Not very impressive to say the least (in terms of quantity). Luckily, the second half of the year is looking much better, in fact light years ahead by comparison. As a gamer, whom primarily plays on Nintendo consoles the holiday season will be nirvana an explosion of pure awesomeness and bliss in the purest form. Unfortunately, while we be basking in the gaming orgy of quality titles, are wallets will be bleeding rupees like there is no tomorrow.
